A correspondence of F.J. Abbey & Co. to W.A. Carter dated 1873 July 7 and 1873 November 18 can been found at the Marie Eccles-Caine Archive of Intermountain Americana, Utah State University Libraries ask for the William Alexander Carter Family & Mary E. Carter Papers 1859 - 1890, box 2.

Carter was an interesting person who served in the Seminole War, emigranted to California in 1850, came to Fort Bridger, Utah Territory in 1857 and spent there as a sutler and post trader. A lot of correspondance to Carter from U.S. government, army officials and others involved in business affairs in Utah Territory is available at the Utah University.
